SIO Telangana education budget recommendations seek minority allocation hike

Hyderabad: SIO Telangana education budget recommendations for 2026–27 called for a strategic increase in minority allocation to ₹5,000 crore and stronger mechanisms to ensure effective utilisation of funds.

SIO Telangana organised a round table meeting on February 17 at the Conference Hall of Madina Education Centre, Nampally. During the meeting, the organisation submitted a booklet titled “Education in Telangana: Budget, Challenges and Suggestive Recommendations 2026–27” to present research-based policy proposals for the upcoming financial year.

Hafiz Hammad Uddin, Zonal Secretary, presented a detailed report titled “Education in Telangana: Status & Challenges – Insights from ASER, Young Lives, and UDISE+.” The report highlighted key findings, persistent gaps, and sector-wide challenges based on recent studies and official data.

Professor S.A. Shakoor addressed the gathering and urged the state to raise the minority budget from ₹3,000 crore to ₹5,000 crore. He stressed that higher allocation must be matched with transparent and efficient implementation. He also advised SIO to pursue the demand through a structured advocacy strategy.

Key proposals in SIO Telangana education budget meet

Syed Ameen ul Hasan Jafry said increasing allocations alone would not improve outcomes. He underlined the need to strengthen budget utilisation systems and called for a detailed review of fund usage. He added that resources must be channelled strategically to improve educational outcomes and promote holistic minority upliftment.

Several academicians and public figures attended the round table. They included Dr. Atif Ismail, Prof. Islam Uddin Mujahid, Lubna Sarwath, Raza Ahmed Khan, Mir Mumtaz Ali, Shri Prasad Shastry, Prof. Anwar Khan, Khurshid Alam Nadvi, Asghar Ali, and Adv. Abdus Sami.

In his presidential address, SIO Telangana State President Br. Faraz Ahmed said the organisation would consolidate the deliberations and submit comprehensive recommendations to the government. He affirmed that SIO Telangana would advocate for a transparent, accountable, and education-focused budget framework.
