Rama Rao Pawar represents Mudhole constituency as BJP MLA

Hyderabad: Rama Rao Pawar is presently serving as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Mudhole. He entered the Telangana Legislative Assembly in December 2023 after defeating former MLA Gaddigari Vittal Reddy of the BRS by 23,999 votes.

Political and personal background

Born in 1954, Pawar hails from Mudhole in Nirmal district and is a businessman by profession. He completed his B.Sc. in 1976 at Dharmavant Science and Arts College, Yakutpura, Hyderabad, affiliated to Osmania University. Locally, he is known as Ram Rao Pawar. His father is Shyam Rav Patel Pawar.

Pawar contested the 2018 Assembly election from Mudhole on an Indian National Congress ticket but lost. In 2023, he returned as the BJP candidate and secured victory. His campaign highlighted Scheduled Tribe welfare, reliable basic services and rural infrastructure. He repeatedly stressed road connectivity, irrigation support for small farmers and residential schooling facilities for tribal students.

Legislative priorities

As MLA, Pawar has focused on delivery of programmes in remote mandals. He has pressed for drinking water schemes, rural roads and health services. He has also insisted on the transparent use of constituency development funds and timely completion of sanctioned works. Since taking office, he has held outreach meetings to monitor progress on village-level projects and welfare coverage.

In the 2023 contest, Pawar polled 98,252 votes, marking a sharp shift in Mudhole’s voting pattern after several terms dominated by his rival’s camp. His priorities include effective implementation of ST sub-plan allocations, stronger support for farmer livelihoods and improvements in government schools and hostels in interior areas.
