Ministry of Ayush launches Prayas neuro rehabilitation centre at AIIA Goa

Goa: The Ministry of Ayush inaugurated “Prayas”, an integrated neuro-rehabilitation centre at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa on the 10th Ayurveda Day. Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav, who holds portfolios for both Ayush and Health & Family Welfare, opened the facility alongside Minister of State for Power & New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik.

The ceremony marked what officials described as a significant development in the Ayush sector. Furthermore, senior ministry officials and AIIA Goa faculty attended the inauguration event.

The facility represents one of the country’s first multi-disciplinary centres integrating Ayurveda, physiotherapy, yoga, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and modern paediatrics within a single location. Additionally, the centre specifically targets children facing neurological and developmental conditions through holistic, patient-centred treatment approaches.

“The Ministry of Ayush is committed to creating centres of excellence that synergise traditional wisdom with modern medicine,” Jadhav stated during the inauguration. He described the Prayas neuro-rehabilitation centre as “a model of integrative rehabilitation, offering not just treatment but renewed quality of life and hope for patients and their families.”

Naik emphasized the importance of rehabilitation services for addressing neurological and developmental disorders. Moreover, he noted that the innovative approach adopted at AIIA Goa would provide “new hope for countless families navigating complex health challenges.”

Prof P.K. Prajapati, Director of AIIA, explained that the launch reflected the institute’s commitment to pioneering innovative integrative healthcare models. “By combining Ayurveda, Yoga, and modern rehabilitation sciences, we aim to create evidence-based solutions that enhance paediatric neuro care and set new benchmarks in holistic healing,” he said.

Prof. Sujata Kadam, Dean of AIIA Goa, highlighted the initiative’s significance for delivering comprehensive care to children with developmental and neurological challenges. She also noted the centre’s role in contributing to research and training that would shape future Ayush-based healthcare innovations.

The inauguration drew attendance from senior dignitaries, including the Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, the AIIA Director, AIIA Goa Dean, and the Associate Dean.
