Nalgonda Cybercrime Police Prevent Rs 18 Lakh Scam

Hyderabad: A bank manager in Nalgonda stopped a cyber fraud attempt involving Rs 18 lakh by alerting cybercrime police in time. Fraudsters had misled the victim by making false claims of drug trafficking.

Cybercriminals targeted Puchkayala Devender Reddy, a resident of Nalgonda town. They procured a SIM card in his name and linked it to fabricated criminal activity in Bengaluru.

Rs 18 lakh cyber fraud uncovered during bank visit

The fraudsters posed as police officers and threatened Devender Reddy with a digital arrest. They demanded an immediate transfer of Rs 18 lakh. Panic-stricken, he went to the SBI Prakasam Bazaar branch to deposit the amount.

The branch manager noticed the unusual transaction and suspected a scam. He immediately alerted cybercrime officials. DSP Lakshminarayana and his team rushed to the bank, checked call records, and contacted the fraudsters. After questioning, the callers disconnected their phones.

Police stopped the transaction and confirmed it as a cyber fraud attempt. Officials urged citizens to stay alert and report such incidents to 1930.
