Model corridor development inspection held in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Officials conducted a model corridor development inspection from Shaikpet Flyover to Masab Tank and announced key measures to ease traffic congestion and improve infrastructure.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan led the field visit along with senior officials. They inspected the entire stretch by bus and identified major bottlenecks, including water-logging points at Shaikpet Flyover ramp and Tolichowki.

The officials issued directions to remove road obstructions and accelerate ongoing works. They also reviewed plans for new pedestrian facilities, including Foot Over Bridges at key locations such as S.D. Eye Hospital and Brindavan Colony.

Authorities focused on improving drainage systems and road conditions. They ordered repairs of drainage leakages at Tolichowki and construction of a CC road between Ice Magic Parlour and Brindavan Colony. In addition, they planned bus shelters and minor infrastructure adjustments to support commuters.

Model corridor development plans target traffic bottlenecks

During the inspection, officials decided to reduce the rotary width at Nanal Nagar Junction and widen adjoining roads to improve traffic flow. They also proposed removing medians, trees, and certain structures to create additional road space.

Between Rethibowli Junction and Nanal Nagar, authorities approved road widening measures and removal of obstructions, including arches and roadside structures. They also cleared plans for a free left turn from Balika Bhavan towards Tolichowki.

In the Masab Tank and Asif Nagar stretches, officials approved land acquisition near NMDC and a commercial outlet for road expansion. They also planned height restriction barriers on the Masab Tank Flyover and shifting of an electrical transformer to improve safety.

Sajjanar said officials categorised issues into immediate and long-term solutions. Karnan announced an allocation of ₹120 crore for traffic improvement works and said pending works near KBR Park would be completed within two years.
