Hyderabad: Madhapur police arrested an IT employee on Tuesday for allegedly dealing in drugs within the limits of Gachibowli police station and seized MDMA worth ₹1.30 lakh, officials said.
The accused was identified as Sai Kiran, an IT professional, who was taken into custody by the Madhapur SOT police during checks conducted on January 27 in Keshav Nagar, Gachibowli. Police recovered 11 grams of MDMA and two mobile phones from his possession.
Based on credible information, police teams mounted surveillance and conducted targeted checks, leading to the arrest. Officers said the accused was actively involved in procuring and selling drugs in the city.
Police said the seized contraband was brought from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and supplied to local consumers. A case has been registered at Gachibowli Police Station, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply network.
Madhapur police arrest follows targeted checks by SOT team
Officials said the Madhapur SOT intensified monitoring following inputs about drug movement in the Gachibowli area. During the operation, the accused was intercepted and found carrying the narcotic substance.
Police are examining the mobile phones seized from the accused to identify contacts and possible links to interstate drug suppliers. Efforts are also underway to determine whether others were involved in the distribution chain.
