Hyderabad: A constituency-level kabaddi tournament will take place in Devarakonda from January 10 to 12 at the Government High School grounds, Senior Physical Director Chandrayya said on Monday.
Addressing the media, Chandrayya said kabaddi teams from villages across all eight mandals of the Devarakonda constituency will participate in the tournament. He added that the organisers want to encourage rural youth to take part in traditional sports.
The organisers have named the competition the Nenawat Abhilash Nayak Challenger Trophy. They will conduct matches over three days and have completed arrangements for teams and spectators at the venue.
Officials said the tournament will help identify local talent. It will also promote physical fitness and sportsmanship among young players.
