Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police busted an interstate child trafficking racket involving the illegal sale of infants brought from Gujarat and sold in parts of Hyderabad and Mancherial, officials said on Tuesday.
Special teams working under the Cyberabad Police tracked the operation by establishing contacts with agents based in Gujarat. Acting on specific intelligence, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit conducted a special operation and caught the accused red-handed while executing the illegal transactions.
Police said the accused illegally transported infants from Gujarat and sold them to prospective buyers in Telangana for large sums. Officers arrested the gang members during the operation and rescued the infants from their custody.
The rescued children were shifted to designated safe care centres for protection and medical care. Police registered a case under relevant sections of law and launched a detailed investigation into the interstate child trafficking network.
Interstate child trafficking probe reveals wider links
Investigators said preliminary findings indicated that the trafficking racket had wider links across multiple states. Therefore, Cyberabad Police coordinated with Gujarat Police to trace additional suspects, middlemen, and possible buyers connected to the network.
Officials urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to child trafficking. Police advised citizens to dial 100 or contact the 1098 Child Helpline immediately if they notice such incidents, stressing that timely information could help save lives.
