Hyderabad: The Inter answer sheet evaluation process in Telangana has come under criticism, with lecturers alleging excessive workload and pressure to speed up corrections.
The evaluation began on March 4 with the Sanskrit paper, and camps were set up across the state. However, lecturers said officials increased daily targets, assigning up to 45 papers instead of the usual 30.
They stated that authorities are pushing to complete the Inter answer sheet evaluation by March 26. As a result, examiners are under pressure to finish corrections quickly, raising concerns over potential errors.
Inter answer sheet evaluation targets raise accuracy concerns
Lecturers said each answer booklet contains around 24 pages. Even at a minimum pace, evaluating one paper takes 10 to 15 minutes, including marking and totaling scores.
However, due to time pressure, some examiners are reportedly completing a paper within six to seven minutes. Therefore, lecturers warned that such rushed evaluation could affect accuracy and student outcomes.
They also pointed out that staff shortages at evaluation camps are worsening the situation. In addition, working hours were extended from 10 am–5 pm to 9 am–5:30 pm in several centres.
Lecturers expressed concern that evaluation is continuing without breaks during festivals such as Ugadi, Sri Ramanavami, and Ramzan. They warned that the hurried evaluation may negatively impact students’ results.
