Husnabad development review: Ponnam Prabhakar launches free deworming drive

Hyderabad: As part of the Husnabad development review, Ponnam Prabhakar launched a free deworming programme for sheep and goats at Totapalli village in Husnabad mandal and reviewed development works across the constituency.

During the programme, the minister said the initiative aimed to safeguard livestock health and strengthen rural livelihoods. Therefore, he stressed that preventive veterinary care was essential for farmers and would reduce long-term losses in animal husbandry.

Later, Prabhakar interacted with students at the Totapalli primary school. He assured them that authorities would construct a new school building to replace the existing structure. In addition, he announced the sanction of a VIVO building to improve educational facilities, linking it to priorities identified during the Husnabad development review.

The minister said officials conducted two-day review meetings from mandal to field level. These sessions involved departments handling education, health, agriculture, roads, electricity, irrigation, and rural infrastructure. Meanwhile, officials collected direct inputs from villages to strengthen the Husnabad development review process.

Prabhakar said field-level issues were discussed with senior officers to ensure timely resolutions. Therefore, he emphasised that public services must reach rural areas transparently and without delay.

He directed health officials to ensure primary health centres and sub-centres function efficiently. At the same time, he raised staff shortage concerns with education department officials, calling it a key challenge flagged during the Husnabad development review.

On agriculture, the minister said meetings were held covering 43 Rythu Vedikas with mandal agriculture officers. Moreover, officials discussed fish stocking in irrigation tanks, irrigation water availability, and related issues affecting farmers.

He said education officials reviewed school infrastructure through MEOs. Similarly, power department officers examined electricity supply problems, including hanging cables, as part of identifying Husnabad development gaps. Subsequently, these findings were compiled into detailed reports.

At the village level, officials held meetings with village secretaries, village officers, ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, and headmasters. Based on these interactions, they prepared comprehensive reports.

On drinking water and roads, Prabhakar instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted Mission Bhagiratha water supply and smooth road connectivity. He said the previous government failed to construct even 250 double-bedroom houses in the constituency over ten years.

However, he said the present government sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses in Husnabad this year. He urged beneficiaries to begin construction immediately, adding that bills would be cleared within a week after completion. He said additional houses would be sanctioned in phases.

The minister said he requested the Chief Minister to extend special schemes for veterinary services and dairy development in rural areas. He added that R&B and Panchayat Raj road works were nearing completion. He also said development works were underway at Sarvai Papanna Fort, Mahasamudram Gandi Yellamma Cheruvu, and Kotha Cheruvu, and that village-level feedback would remain central to the Husnabad development review.
