Hyderabad: Panic spread among motorists on Friday after a road caved in opposite Cyber Gateway in HITEC City, disrupting traffic in the area.
Road collapses on busy Hitech City stretch
The cave-in created a large pothole on the main road, which usually carries heavy traffic throughout the day. As a result, several motorists faced sudden danger when the road surface gave way without warning.
Soon after commuters alerted authorities, personnel from the Madhapur Traffic Police rushed to the spot. They immediately placed heavy barricades around the damaged section. Meanwhile, police diverted traffic to nearby roads to avoid accidents.
No injuries reported, probe underway
According to traffic police, the road showed signs of subsidence before collapsing completely. Because of this, no injuries or vehicle damage occurred.
Meanwhile, police personnel continued to regulate traffic at the location. They also advised motorists to avoid the stretch until repair work is completed.
However, officials have not yet identified the exact cause of the cave-in. Civic authorities will examine the site and determine the reason for the collapse.
Commuters seek road safety audit
Following the incident, commuters urged authorities to inspect roads in the area thoroughly. They pointed out that the stretch handles heavy daily traffic and poses serious risks if such cave-ins recur.
