Hyderabad: Authorities have issued Flood Warnings in Telangana after torrential rains pushed river inflows to dangerous levels. Both the Godavari and Krishna basins are experiencing unprecedented surges.
At Kaleshwaram, the Pranahita’s heavy inflows merged with the Godavari at the Triveni Sangamam, reaching 12.800 meters. The project recorded its highest seasonal inflow of 10,43,840 cusecs.
At Bhadrachalam, the Godavari hit 48 feet by Wednesday night. As part of flood warnings Telangana, the second warning was announced, with restrictions placed on devotees near river ghats.
Srisailam released water through ten crest gates lifted 18 feet high, while Nagarjunasagar opened 26 gates.
Mulugu district bore the brunt, with the Godavari at 57.20 feet near Peruru. Submersion of National Highway 163 severed connectivity to Chhattisgarh. Thirty-four people from 15 households were evacuated from Wazeedu town after water entered homes and prayer halls.
Eturunagaram’s Ramannagudem reported 16 meters of water, prompting a second-level warning.
