Hyderabad: GHMC Deputy Mayor Motey Srilatha Shobhan Reddy on Wednesday said society must actively encourage divyang persons in all fields. According to her, authorities should identify their hidden talent and provide equal opportunities.
Sankalpa Mela Inaugurated at Lalapet
She made these remarks after inaugurating the ‘Sankalpa Mela’ at the Jayashankar Sports Ground in Lalapet. The event was jointly organised by Blue Foundation, Enable India, and CADER.
During the event, she appreciated the organisers for bringing multiple voluntary organisations onto a single platform.
Empowerment Key to Social Development
The Deputy Mayor said divyang persons possess immense potential. Therefore, empowering them remains essential for overall social development. She further urged institutions and employers to create inclusive spaces. In addition, she called for meaningful participation of divyang persons in education, employment, and social life.
Interaction with Organisations and Visitors
Later, she interacted with representatives of voluntary organisations and visitors. During these interactions, she enquired about ongoing services for divyang persons. At the same time, she sought details about the challenges they face.
Speakers Highlight Inclusion Efforts
At a meeting held as part of the mela, several dignitaries addressed the gathering. These included Moses Chowdhary, Krishnamurthy, K. Saidulu, K. Srinivasa Rao, Haribabu, Mallikarjun, V. Kranti Kishore, and Umar Khan.
Wide Participation and Public Response
Around 40 voluntary organisations set up special stalls at the mela. As a result, visitors explored a wide range of services. Moreover, they gained awareness about welfare schemes, training programmes, and support services. These initiatives, officials said, aim to improve the quality of life of divyang persons.
