Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka warns officials against negligence in welfare delivery

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday warned that the government would not tolerate negligence by officials or employees in delivering welfare and development schemes to the public.

Addressing a review meeting with senior officials at the Khammam Collectorate, Bhatti Vikramarka said officers and staff had full freedom to implement government schemes. However, he said they would face action if they failed to ensure benefits reached eligible beneficiaries. He added that the public government wanted every welfare programme to reach people without delay.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, said the government prepared the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 document to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy. He advised officials to focus on better use of human resources. He also said the government had given top priority to the education sector and was spending crores of rupees to strengthen it.

Bhatti Vikramarka warning stresses education and accountability

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government had increased cosmetic charges for girls staying in hostels for the first time. He added that the food budget for hostel students had also gone up to ensure nutritious meals. He directed officials to closely monitor education standards in government schools and hostels. He warned that the in-charge officer would be held responsible if lapses were found.

He said the government was providing facilities in government educational institutions on par with private schools. He asked officials to submit reports on schools and hostels that lacked basic infrastructure. He assured that the government was ready to spend the required funds to fill these gaps.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister made a surprise visit to the Telangana Tribal Welfare Girls Gurukul Degree College at Konjerla mandal in Wyra Assembly constituency of Khammam district. He had lunch with the students and reviewed hostel facilities and teaching standards. He also inspected the library and checked resources meant for competitive examinations.

Bhatti Vikramarka observed the process of making mosquito-repellent incense sticks prepared by students. He instructed the district collector to take steps to brand and market the products. He interacted with students on health and creativity, planted saplings on the campus, and conveyed the message of environmental protection.
