Hyderabad: An 81-year-old man from Ameerpet lost ₹7.11 lakh in a cyber fraud. Police said he was lured through WhatsApp chats and calls by a woman claiming to be in financial distress.

It was found that the victim sent money in several transfers after believing her story of medical costs. He also pledged jewellery to mobilise funds. When demands grew, suspicion arose and he approached Cyber Crime Police with family support.
