Hyderabad: Telangana Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that women empowerment is at the heart of the Congress government’s political and governance agenda.
Speaking at a Mahila Congress meeting in Yusufguda, he said the Congress under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched welfare measures never before seen in the state, proving its commitment to inclusive governance.
Women empowerment becomes core political agenda
He detailed measures such as petrol and diesel bunks, solar power generation units, and Indiramma Canteens managed by SHGs. These initiatives, he said, merge welfare and employment, ensuring women’s participation in economic growth.

He criticised the previous BRS administration for ignoring SHGs. “We’ve revived them with interest-free loans and a government guarantee,” he said. The new insurance plan assures ₹10 lakh for SHG families in case of member death.
District-level SHG resource centres are also being established with a ₹5 crore allocation per district. “Women empowerment is not just a slogan—it’s a governance mission,” he said.
Highlighting Congress’ welfare record, Uttam Kumar Reddy said 40,000 new ration cards have been issued in Jubilee Hills, with free rice, subsidised gas cylinders, and free power to eligible households.
He expressed confidence that Congress candidate Naveen Yadav would win the by-election, calling it a “mandate for women’s leadership.”
