Hijab incident protest Hyderabad intensifies

Addressing protesters near Charminar, Syed Khalid Saifullah said the act amounted to physical assault and a grave violation of constitutional rights. He stressed that the issue transcended party politics and concerned fundamental human dignity and women’s rights.

Khalid said the incident sent a dangerous message when someone holding constitutional authority publicly disrespected a woman. He criticised the National Commission for Women for not exercising its powers under the NCW Act, 1990, and demanded immediate intervention.

He announced a miss-call and email campaign to press the Commission for action and said protests would continue in a lawful and peaceful manner. Leaders and activists from Congress frontal organisations also participated.
