Hyderabad: Congress Bharat Bandh support was formally announced by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, who called on all Pradesh Congress Committees to extend solidarity with the nationwide strike scheduled for February 12.
In a letter dated 10.02.2026, Venugopal said a joint platform of 10 Central Trade Unions, supported by various farmers’ organisations, had called for a Bharat Bandh on Thursday, February 12, 2026. He stated that the strike was primarily against the BJP-led Central government’s labour reforms and economic policies.
According to the letter, the new labour codes had reduced job security, diluted statutory safeguards and increased employer flexibility in hiring and firing. He said these measures adversely affected the rights and interests of workers. Farmers’ organisations had also extended support to the strike, citing growing concerns over the policies.
