Hyderabad: TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of running a fake news campaign. He charged BRS with defaming Congress candidate Naveen Yadav to mislead Jubilee Hills voters.
Nizamuddin addressed reporters at Gandhi Bhavan. He said Jubilee Hills showed strong support for Naveen Yadav since Congress named him. The Backward Classes leader drew widespread enthusiasm, he added.
“The craze for Naveen Yadav among the people of Jubilee Hills has shaken the BRS leadership,” Nizamuddin said. He alleged BRS turned to unethical tactics and false propaganda on social media.
BRS leaders and teams spread fabricated content to tarnish Yadav’s image, Nizamuddin claimed. They created a fake clip alleging Yadav made objectionable remarks against Muslims. “This is completely false, baseless, and malicious. He has never made such a comment at any time or on any platform,” he said.
The fake clip used a Telugu daily’s dateline and layout for authenticity. Nizamuddin said the goal targeted Muslim voters to spark communal misunderstandings.
Days earlier, another fabricated clipping claimed “Hydra will demolish houses in Jubilee Hills.” It mimicked another Telugu daily’s format. Nizamuddin tied this to BRS sympathizers aiming to cause panic.
“These repeated attempts show that the BRS has become a habitual offender in spreading fake news,” he said. He criticized BRS for dodging its ten-year failures in Jubilee Hills.
Nizamuddin appealed to voters against believing or sharing false propaganda. “The BRS is desperate because the people have seen through its lies. We urge citizens to verify information and stay alert against such misinformation,” he said.
Congress planned a complaint with Cyber Crime Police. Nizamuddin demanded an investigation into accounts posting fake items and those behind them. He urged Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar to register a case suo motu. Nizamuddin called the moves signs of BRS desperation.
