Hyderabad: Officials flagged off the torch relay for the second edition of the Chief Minister Cup–2025 from the Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium on January 8 as part of the Telangana government’s initiative to promote sports across the State.
District Education Officer P. Sushindra Rao and Telangana Olympic Association president Malla Reddy inaugurated the relay by waving the flag. District Youth and Sports Officer E. Venkateshwar Rao, LB Nagar Circle Inspector Vinod, coaches, physical education teachers, players and department staff participated in the programme.
The torch relay began at Saroor Nagar Stadium and proceeded up to LB Nagar junction before reaching Zilla Parishad High School at Hayathnagar. Revenue and education officials, along with the headmaster, teachers and students, accorded a warm reception and joined the relay.
The procession later passed through Abdullapurmet mandal and Pedda Amberpet, where officials and students of the local Zilla Parishad High School welcomed the participants and took part in the event. The relay then reached Tukkuguda, where Maheshwaram mandal education officials, the headmaster and students participated enthusiastically.
Chief Minister Cup relay draws wide participation
Officials said the Chief Minister Cup aimed to encourage discipline, fitness and leadership qualities among youth. They urged students and young athletes to actively participate in sports alongside academics.
A large number of sportspersons, students, teachers, public representatives and sports enthusiasts attended the relay events across locations. Officials said the strong turnout reflected growing interest in organised sports at the grassroots level.
The first day of the Chief Minister Cup torch relay concluded successfully in Hyderabad district. The relay is scheduled to continue on January 9 from Ibrahimpatnam under the leadership of local MLA Mal Reddy Rangareddy.
