Two youths jailed for seven days in Chandrayangutta petty case

Hyderabad: A city court sentenced two youths to seven days in jail in a Chandrayangutta petty case after police found them moving suspiciously while carrying a sharp object, officials said on Thursday.

The conviction was recorded on January 29, 2026, in an e-petty case registered by Chandrayangutta police station under the Rajendranagar zone of Hyderabad City Police. The case was booked under Section 61-A of the City Police Act.

The accused were identified as Abdul Rehan, 21, a Rapido driver from Chandrayangutta, and Mohd Imran, 25, employed in a private job and residing in the same area. Police said both were taken into custody after they were noticed behaving suspiciously in a public place.

According to police, the duo was found carrying a sharp object without any valid reason, prompting officers to register an e-petty case. An offline charge sheet was filed as E-Petty Case No. HYD2335PC 169/2026, corresponding to STC No. 646/2026.

The case was heard by Sri Manda Murali, Hon’ble IXth Special Metropolitan Magistrate, at Manoranjan Complex in Nampally. After examining the material placed before the court, the magistrate convicted both accused and sentenced them to seven days’ simple imprisonment.

The investigation was carried out by J. Kiran Kumar, sub-inspector of police, Chandrayangutta police station. Officials said such action was aimed at deterring suspicious movement and maintaining public order in sensitive areas.
