Hyderabad: The revision of jersey sponsorship rates by the BCCI marks another chapter in cricket’s growing commercialization. The board announced it would now charge ₹3.5 crore per bilateral match and ₹1.5 crore per ICC or Asia Cup fixture for the Team India jersey sponsor.
The move follows the withdrawal of Dream11 after new gaming regulations forced BCCI to end the agreement. As a result, the Indian team will play the Asia Cup without any sponsor on its jersey.
Team India jersey sponsor bid expected to cross ₹400 crore
Industry analysts suggest the new sponsorship tender could fetch BCCI over ₹400 crore, depending on competitive bids. Cricbuzz reported that the new structure will apply after the Asia Cup concludes.
On September 2, BCCI invited bids with strict eligibility rules, excluding companies in alcohol, tobacco, betting, real-money gaming (except fantasy sports), cryptocurrency, pornography, or other sectors harmful to public morality.
The case reflects how cricket boards adapt to both market opportunities and regulatory pressures. By raising rates and tightening conditions, BCCI seeks to reinforce its position as the most commercially attractive cricket board globally.
