Hyderabad: Police busted a human trafficking racket in Asifabad and arrested three accused for transporting and selling young women to other states, officials said.
Acting on specific inputs, police intercepted the accused while they shifted two girls from Bejjur in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. The arrested individuals belong to Mancherial and Madhya Pradesh and were part of an organised network.
Investigators said the accused lured victims with promises of marriage, money, and jobs. However, they later moved them illegally to states like Madhya Pradesh and sold them.
Asifabad human trafficking network targeted tribal women
The probe revealed that the racket had operated in Bejjur for some time. The accused mainly targeted vulnerable groups such as tribal girls, single women, and widows from remote areas.
During interrogation, police found that the accused sold each victim for around ₹2.5 lakh. They forced the trafficked women into prostitution or marriages with men from states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
Officials said the racket functioned as a coordinated group and traded women across state borders. Meanwhile, police placed the two rescued girls under protection and continued the probe to identify more members of the network.
